Gesture and Silhouette

Stack of modern books and magazine with minimalist cover design on leather chair

project overview

The Gesture and Silhouette project is based on the rapid, intuitive observation of the human figure’s character and movement. Rather than detailed depictions, the drawings focus on the expressive power of gesture, posture, and silhouette, where a few dynamic lines are sufficient to convey the figure’s character. The continuous, repetitive lines simultaneously shape both the clothing and the body, while creating a dynamic rhythm within the composition. Throughout the project, line and color appear as complementary visual tools. The vibrant background colors and contrasting color fields highlight the figures’ movement, while the spontaneity of freehand drawing preserves the energy of the moment. The series showcases an expressive approach to fashion illustration, where the emphasis is not on precise depiction but on capturing the figure’s rhythm, proportions, and visual character.
